1st Lex Macula Virtual Moot Court Competition
Time & Location
About the Event
During these unprecedented times of the COVID 19 outbreak the whole nation is exposed to a crisis. It is not just our country; the whole world has been under a lockdown. However, we were not ready to compromise the growth and development opportunities for the law students of our nation in these times of inactivity. We bring to all of you an event, one of its kind, focusing on increased cases of ‘Domestic Violence’ during the lockdown.
According to sociologist Marianne Hester, “Domestic Violence goes up whenever families spend more time together.” Victims are indefinitely trapped inside the homes with the abusers which leads to an exponential increase in the cases of domestic violence. Ever since the lockdown started, women’s helplines have reported extremes of sharp rises in distress calls. The National Commission for Women (NCW) reported that the number of cases of domestic violence complaints it had received more than doubled from 30 in the week starting March 2, 2020, to 69 for the period between March 23 and April 1, 2020. We at Lex Macula aim to spread awareness about this social evil.
The event is a whole new opportunity to turn things around and make this time productive. We understand the plight of the law students, due to cancellation and postponements of various Moot Court Competitions at the current moment. Consequently, we are here to provide an opportunity for enriching growth and knowledge.
This event not only enhances the Research skills and confidence of our participants but also promotes awareness about a social cause that we overlooked during these times. On behalf of Lex Macula, we welcome you all to participate in this Online Moot Court Competition. We assure you that it would be an interesting journey, and each of you will gain from it.
Are you worried about the preparation and the limited time? ---- Don’t worry we got you covered. Along with our education partners, we are working tirelessly to provide you with case briefs for ease of research. We understand the short duration of time and therefore we introduce a participant friendly moot preposition and memorial submission process where the participants would only be required to draft a concise version of the usual memorial or written submission.
